Strate equities settlement officers exam

trate has recently launched the Strate Equities Settlement Officers Exam to suite of examinable modules. The exam has been designed for individuals operating within the operational divisions of Settlements, Securities Lending and Borrowing and Corporate Actions in the financial markets and who wish to receive a Strate Settlement Officers certification. This certification may also be a stepping stone to obtaining a full Strate Compliance Officers certificate. This module aims to introduce the candidate to key concepts related to Settlements, Securities Lending and Borrowing, Shareholders Register as well as Corporate Actions.

The content of this module is meant for the intermediate level and therefore, a basic understanding of the financial markets is necessary. The content is also specific to the business and operational procedures of Participants and Business Partners within the Strate environment. It is therefore different in nature and content to that of the JSE Settlement Officers exam and is aimed at proving competence for operating specifically in the Equities Strate environment. On successful completion of this module candidates will gain one credit towards the Strate Compliance Officers exam. This credit is against the Strate Module 2 examination which forms part of the Equities Strate Compliance Officer exam requirements.

The structure of this Programme also consists of two full day training sessions. Although these training sessions are not compulsory, they are highly recommended to assist candidates with the understanding of the content and in preparation for the examination. Venues and dates for training will be confirmed in consultation with interested parties.

The examination for this programme, like all our other modules is through the South African Institute of Financial markets (SAIFM) at a cost of R787.00.
